Apostille of a US Transcript
A transcript demonstrates a student’s academic record, course of study, and/or their grade point average (GPA).
A transcript apostille may be required to pursue higher education abroad, to continue primary or secondary education for your children, or to accept a job that requires validation of these records in order to exercise the roles of said job.
Most US university/college transcripts are issued through Parchment, however, you must contact the respective department in your school to secure the notarization of your record.
For elementary school, middle school, or high school, you must request the record and its notarization from the department in charge of the issuance of said record.
Some universities/colleges and most elementary, middle, and high schools, do NOT provide notary services. If this is the case, you must inform the country of destination that the school is unable to provide this.

Educational documents are in the sole custody of the educational institution. Most universities/colleges rely on Parchment to assist with the shipment of these records. Ensure your document is duly certified and notarized before proceeding with your apostille.

Apostille Requirements for a New York City Transcript
Your transcript must be certified by an authorized school official.
The certification must be notarized by a validly commissioned New York notary public.
Your transcript must be certified by the County Clerk office’s where the notary is commissioned.
Failure to comply with any of the above requirements will result in a rejected application from the New York Department of State.

True Copy Apostille
What if my record does not comply with the above requirements?
What if I do not want to give up my original record? It’s my original record!
Or what if I simply no longer have the original record and obtaining a certified copy will take months? I need my apostille now.

We can attach an affidavit to your document, certifying the record as a true copy of the original, and notarize the affidavit. This process bypasses the need to have the original, as the apostille will certify the notary’s signature, not the signature on the official record. The apostille of this notarized true copy will be done in New York State.
Before opting for this process, please contact the authorities who are receiving your document if they will accept the apostille of your document via a notarized copy. If the country of destination:
Requires the apostille to certify the official signature of the record,
Will not accept a notarized copy of your record, or,
Requires the apostille must be issued by the official Department of State where the document was issued (i.e. if your document is from the State of Virginia, the apostille is from Virginia).
If any of the above apply, please obtain a correct, certified copy of your record prior to submitting for apostille.
